Meet Our Founder
Throughout her life, Ebony Towner has continually developed her passion for meaningful and affirming social connection. Ebony has had the opportunity to observe the profound impact that social connection has on mental and emotional well-being. Her passion for fostering meaningful relationships was sparked by her own journey, and enhanced through observing the lives of others in her personal life and career. Her vision is rooted in the belief that meaningful relationships is an essential factor in personal and communal wellbeing. Her mission is to support as many people as she can in creating a meaningful life for themself that is full of connection.
Ebony developed a passion for supporting people on the autism spectrum while working as a special education teacher and behavior therapist. Ebony started her teaching career as a Community Immersion Teacher for transition-aged adults, ages 18-22, in the San Francisco Bay Area. She worked with students and families to create individualized programs to help foster independence, empowerment, and fulfillment with activities such as inclusive work experience, community college classes, and life skill development. As an autism specific Middle School Teacher, Ebony facilitated an inclusive education program for her students including peer and teacher training, individualized supports, and curriculum modifications. She also ran the Best Buddies program which facilitated peer friendships between her students and the broader student body. Ebony believes that community should have a place for everyone. She endeavors to support adults on the autism spectrum with their quest for community and connectedness as well.
Ebony received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from UC Berkeley in 2006 and her first master’s degree in Special Education at San Francisco State University in 2014.
